In the food industry, trough sinks must meet strict hygiene and cleanability standards. According to EN 1672-2, "food residues must not remain in small crevices where they are difficult or impossible to remove". INTER sinks have been designed with this in mind, with no horizontal surfaces on the back to prevent water trapping, which could lead to the growth of micro-organisms.

The back and underside of the trough sink are also designed to ensure that splashes from cleaning the floor and walls don’t accumulate behind. The drain is laser-cut from the steel plate, without any obstructions, and the internal angles are shaped for easy cleaning and disinfection. The welds are smoothed to prevent the buildup of biofilm.
